    Teghut CJSC<\/strong> was established to operate the Teghut deposit<\/strong> in the Lori region, which ranks second in Armenia<\/strong> in terms of copper and molybdenum reserves.<\/p>\n

    The mine\u2019s copper-molybdenum ore reserves<\/strong> are estimated at 450 million tons<\/strong>, with confirmed molybdenum reserves of approximately 100,000 tons<\/strong> and copper reserves of 1.6 million tons<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    2006\u20132013: Design and Construction of Teghut Mining and Processing Plant<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Between 2006 and 2013, Teghut CJSC<\/strong> carried out extensive design and construction works<\/strong> for the Teghut mining and processing plant.<\/p>\n

    For the construction, more than 700 hectares of land<\/strong> were allocated, including 357 hectares of forested area<\/strong>. During this period, over 140 facilities<\/strong> were built, with the main ones including:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Primary crushing plant<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Flotation processing plant<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Tailings management system<\/strong>, including tailings storage facility, tailings pipelines, water diversion structures, industrial water systems, and pumping stations<\/li>\n
    • Open-pit mine<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Mining transport equipment facility<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Infrastructure facilities<\/strong>, including administrative buildings, water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and others<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      2014 \u2013 Commissioning of Teghut Mining and Processing Plant<\/strong><\/p>\n

      In its very first year of operation, the Teghut mine<\/strong> became the second-largest copper mine in Armenia<\/strong>, significantly contributing to the economic development of northern regions<\/strong> and addressing local employment needs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      2018 \u2013 Suspension of Plant Operations<\/strong><\/p>\n

      According to studies conducted by international specialized organizations, the suspension of operations was due to preliminary data indicating potential stability risks of the tailings dam<\/strong>. These initial findings were later confirmed by independent consultants. Based on this information, Teghut CJSC made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend ore extraction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      \u00a0<\/p>\n

      2019 \u2013 Resumption of Production and Restart of the Mining and Processing Plant<\/strong><\/p>\n

      In April\u2013May 2019<\/strong>, Teghut CJSC<\/strong> carried out extensive repair, restoration, and commissioning works<\/strong>, including the decommissioning of hazardous industrial facilities<\/strong>. The company obtained the license to restart the mining and processing plant<\/strong> and resumed production with an annual capacity of 7 million tons of ore<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      By the end of 2021, Teghut CJSC expects to extract and process approximately 47 million tons of ore<\/strong> during the production cycle.<\/p>\n

      To reduce risks related to tailings dam stability<\/strong>, the company has developed and is implementing a set of stability enhancement measures<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Developing and enforcing strict daily monitoring standards<\/strong> for the condition of the tailings dam<\/li>\n
      • Artificially lowering the water level<\/strong> in tailings through depressurization<\/li>\n
      • Conducting additional studies of the dam\u2019s physical and mechanical properties<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Designing projects for strengthening the tailings dam<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Implementing reinforcement works using rockfill<\/strong>, among other measures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        \u00a0<\/p>\n

        The operation of Teghut CJSC\u2019s mining and processing plant<\/strong> has created approximately 1,100 jobs<\/strong> and made a significant contribution to addressing employment challenges in the region<\/strong>. Fully compliant with all standards established by Armenian law<\/strong>, Teghut CJSC is listed among the country\u2019s major taxpayers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

        Between 2019 and 2021, the company planned to pay over AMD 28.2 billion<\/strong> to the state budget.<\/p>\n
