“Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine CJSC”

The construction of the Kajaran Copper and Molybdenum Combine began in 1940. However, the work was suspended due to the Great Patriotic War and resumed only after its conclusion.

In 1949, a pilot beneficiation plant was commissioned, and a few years later, in the spring of 1952, the combine produced its first output.

Initially, the Kajaran deposit was exploited using a combination of underground mining methods, but from 1957–1959 onwards, it has been developed exclusively through open-pit mining.

The vast reserves of copper, molybdenum, and other valuable metals significantly contributed to the rapid growth of the combine, which soon became one of the largest and leading copper-molybdenum enterprises not only in Armenia but also in the Soviet Union.

In 2004, the combine was privatized.
