The Armenian Miners and Metallurgists Association is a non-governmental organization established in 2006 at the initiative of leading mining companies. The decision to found the Union was adopted on October 10, 2006, and it was officially registered in December of the same year.
The founding members include major industrial and trade union organizations of the sector. At the inaugural meeting, Maxim Hakobyan was elected as the founding President, and Borik Mkrtchyan as Director.
The Association’s mission is to protect the professional and reputational rights of miners and metallurgists, promote the development of the mining and metallurgical sectors, support policy reforms aligned with international standards, and contribute to improving the investment environment.
Over the years, the Union has continued its activities with consistent leadership. Notably, Hayk Aloyan served as President (2018–2022), followed by Vardan Jhanjanyan, elected in 2022.
The organization remains committed to advancing the mining industry, supporting economic development, addressing sectoral challenges, and participating in legislative initiatives.
