Maxim Hakobyan

Maxim Hakobyan (1949–2018)- Founding President of the “Association of Mining and Metallurgy of Armenia” (Union of Miners and Metallurgists of Armenia) NGO: 2006-2018
Maxim Hakobyan is an economic figure of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian SSR, one of the prominent leaders of the mining industry of Armenia. For many years, he headed the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine, passing through a professional path from an ordinary employee to the General Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Since 1972, he has been associated with the combine, holding various responsible positions. In 1998, he was appointed Executive Director, and since 2003, General Director. Since 2014, he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors.
At the same time, he has been actively engaged in public activities:

  • Since 2006, President of the Union of Miners and Metallurgists of the Republic of Armenia
  • Since 2007, President of the “Gandzasar” Football Club

He graduated from Yerevan Polytechnic Institute, receiving a qualification as a mining engineer.

He was awarded a number of state and church highest awards, including the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 1st degree, and the Anania Shirakatsi Medal.
